Guest Blogger: And the Green Grass Grew All Around

Ahh! My best friend/Roommate Kristen is doing a guest post for me! Happy Dance :) You guys know I love her, and I love what she's decided to write about too! Be sure to pay her a nice visit!

Hey! I'm Kristen from and the green grass grew all around but you might already know me as Mel's BFRMF (Best Friend and Roommate Forever). Yeah. I just made that up. Well, if you stuck around after that tragedy, thanks. Melissa asked me to guest post/I told her I was going to while she's off praising Jesus. I knew immediately what I was going to write about.

How To Deal: When Your Best Friend Gets a Boyfriend
If you read Mel's blog you know she recently got a boyfriend. Yay! I'm so happy for her and I love T! With that being true, it was still hard to handle her getting a boyfriend and having to share her. Here is some advice from what I learned. I'll share some advice for those who have a boyfriend and those who are still riding solo.

My best friend Mel and I
Don't compare
I don't know about you but I have a huge problem with this! I do have a boyfriend and sometimes I would catch myself comparing T to my boyfriend. Not good! I had to remember why I fell for my boyfriend and how he is the perfect one for me. And if you're single, don't compare yourself to your friend wondering why you didn't get the boyfriend. You are just as beautiful/nice/funny, ect as she is and you will find someone that compliments your best qualities and fits with you.

It's okay to be a little jealous...
...but don't let it consume you! Instead take the jealousy and turn it into happiness for your friend. That little green monster is not a pretty accessory! Remember how much your friend deserves to be happy and  don't forget that you'll have your happy boy time when the time is right!

Enjoy some alone time
Alone time? What is that?! When Mel was single and I had a boyfriend I would hang out with him and then hang out with Mel when he wasn't around. Then she found T. So what was I to do when my boyfriend was busy and Mel was with T? Spend time with myself? Ah! It's not as scary or boring as it sounds! Everyone needs a time out. Get a book to read, start a bible study and use this time as your God time, get ahead on homework, or just sit back and relax. Single or taken, we all need some me time.

Talk to your best friend
If things are still bugging you... you think she's spending too much time with her new boy, you feel too jealous... let her know! She can't read your mind and I'll be honest... it's really easy to get carried away when a new boy comes into the picture. My best friends (who are my roommates too) and I made a roomie night and this was a no boyfriend, no cell phone, just us time. We also have a deal that if someone thinks the other person is spending too much time with their boy we were to confront them, kindly, and fix it. Don't ever let a boy get between you and your best friend. An open talking friendship is one of the best things you can have.

I could go on and on with other pieces of advice but I feel these cover it pretty well! I hope you enjoyed what I had to say! Come stop by and say hi!
