Inspire Me Wednesday

Hello friends! I just got home from InterVarsity, where we talked about God (just like every other week) and as usual, I came home wanting to share how wonderful He is! So I'm thinking about writing a little blurb every Wednesday a little bit about what we talked about.

This week and last week we talked about Shame and Guilt (sounds fun, huh?)
Definition of Guilt: A wrongness of doing or action. For example, "Man, I really shouldn't have cheated on that test"
Definition of Shame: A wrongness of being. For example, "I'm a loser and a cheater and I always will be"

We discussed the story of the Prodigal Son and how even though the son forsake his father and basically wished him dead, after realizing the mistake he had made, the father took him back no questions asked. Remind you of anything? No matter how much we sin or how bad it is, God take us back with open arms. No questions asked.

Sometimes we punish ourselves more than God would. 1 John 3:20 says, "But if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and He knows all things." We are told that if there are any lingering feelings of shame after repentence, those feelings are not from God. Once you ask for forgiveness, you are forgiven. Period. The. End.

So now I'm feeling all good about things. God loves me! He forgives me! Yay!

Then, Mike (the staff worker...the guy who "talks") says:
"Okay. Now close your eyes. Think about the thing that causes you the most shame..."

What? But, but, but I don't want to think about those things! They cause me shame! Why would I think about it?

"...God meets you there..."

Oh.
That's good.

Sometimes I can't even wrap my head around how amazing our God is.
I'm praying for you all, Bloggies. That's what I call you. In my prayer journal. I write:
Bloggies. Health, happiness, and that You're with them.

By the way! Some super amazing people have done the Beautiful Belly Challenge! Go check out:
If you did it and forgot to link up, let me know! I'd love to read what you have to say. And if you haven't done it, please do! :)

And, I love this post. The story of the Prodigal son is so powerful. And He is so wonderful, it is hard to believe sometimes the grace that he extends to all of us.

Love the post. i do agree that sometimes we're harder on ourselves. And it's so amazing how loving and forgiving our Savior is.
