Perfect Peace got a makeover! I had been working on several different ideas for weeks, then all of a sudden this one just happened. I'm pretty happy with it, what do you think?
It's been a long day.
Can I tell you about it?
First of all, I had to wake up at the ungodly hour of 6am. That shouldn't be legal. Saddest thing is, when I'm a real teacher, I'll have to do it (or earlier) every day. Wonderful. Anyway. I headed over to the Elementary School that I'm doing my [40 hours of] clinicals at.
I love my crazy sweet class of 18 second graders. Every time I see them they remind me of how much I love teaching and how I know it's what I'm meant to do. that makes getting up at 6 a little better.
I want to tell you a few stories:
I was helping Caroline with her math work. She had to transfer her answers to a scantron, and I was helping her out by bubbling in the answers as she read them to me. When I finished, she looked at the scantron and said, "Wow! You bubble good!" Well thank you. Years of practice, grasshopper.
Later in the day I noticed a few kids passing a note back and forth. I wasn't going to be that teacher who calls kids out for writing notes, especially since it wasn't like they were supposed to be paying attention or anything. And because I figured it was the boys writing notes to the girls telling them they were pretty or something. What was I thinking? A few minutes later I passed one of the boys' desks and see the note. On the note I see a...a...a BAD WORD! I was so ashamed of my sweet little second grader. I didn't know what to do.
So I tattled.
I told the teacher, and they got in trouble.
I'm a terrible person.
Please don't allow your 8 year old to curse.
Okay rant over.
I'm tired.

You didn't tattle, you were doing a good thing. Bad words are bad! Especially coming from a Second Grade student! They need to learn what's right and what's wrong...it's how you mold them. You're not a terrible person. Go relax and take your mind off of this long day you've had! x
Haha- I hate to admit it but I'd probably be the teacher who taught the curse word :)
I love your new blog design!! I keep wanting to redesign mine, but have ZERO html knowledge
I love your new design! I especially like your header with the two fonts overlapping. So cool!
And kids cursing is horrible!!
But I'd probably done the same thing like you. Don't worry.
That is pretty bad an 8-year-old cursed in school! I would probably done the same thing you did.
I wanted to let you know that I love your new design-it's beautiful! I love the Spring pictures and the header! Very cute header! :)
i've been learning through my practicums in the elementary schools that sometimes as a teacher you have to be "the bad guy." But if you have fun lessons and truly care for the kids, they will still love you and write you cute notes. with no bad words. :)
I love the new design. It's soooo pretty! And you are going to be such an amazing teacher. You were not a tattler, sometimes things have to be shared so that they are not repeated again and again. You are such a sweet girl Mel :)
P.s. get some restttt.
Glad you had a good first day!! And I know you don't want to be the teacher to take away notes but DO IT!! I was in 3rd grade and 2 boys would give me "love notes" and drawings and well some of them were sweet but some were extremely nasty and inappropriate and I gave them to my mom asking what some of the sexual content was and they got in lots of trouble! Kids know more than we think now! You'll make a wonderful teacher though :)
Love the new blog, it looks terrific! And you are adorable, good for you for telling. It isnt attractive when adults curse, let alone 8 year olds!
I love the new blog look- the fonts are especially cool! :)
I'm sorry for your long, rough day- hopefully you were able to recover and relax this weekend!
